Good morning everyone, I am new on the forum.

After several years using my stl11k, suddenly I encountered a problem of vertical noise band. The noise affects all the frames including bias and darks. The problem made the camera totally useless. I am quite worried since I remember other users having this problem in the past and that was due to the capacitors. At that time, a SBIG lab at Baader could solve the problem.

I would need technical support to repair the camera. The serial number is 07081894 bought in Miami in August of 2007.

Attached you can find two portions of images that show the problem, those are luminances bin1 500sec -10 degrees.

I would need assistance by Bill Lynch if possible.

    Best regards,
    Gianluigi.

I have the same camera, and it looks like power supply noise problem.
Are you using the original power supply or another source?

    Hi Colin,
I used the original power and, to figure out if that was the problem, i also used the 12 volt battery, but the problem is the same...

There's been a hardware failure, I would suspect the camera's internal power supply. The camera will have to go in to Bill.

Bill will be back from holidays on Monday.

    Hello Bill,

hope your vacations were the best. As you probably will see, I'm having trouble with my stl11k. Hope you can help me.
I tried to check the power supply not interventing on it. The only thing I've noticed is that the metall flange (see att.) was extremly hot, and therefore both near capicitors also... is this a normal thing ? I made a different test, and noticed also that the noise starts when the ccd goes under 10 °C.
I'll be very glad if you come back to me as soon as possible.

    Gianluigi,

That component does get quite warm. I'm having trouble opening the two images. Can you send them to me at bill@sbig.com?
