    Hi
I have an original SBIG Autoguider and camera with the old RS232 port etc and was wondering if it could be used on a modern telescope mount that has an ST-4 port. Any help re wiring this up or how it might be utilised would be useful to me.

By "original" do you mean ST-4?

Ironically many telescope mounts have "ST-4" labeled RJ-12 connectors on them, which is not directly compatible with the original ST-4's DB-15 jack. Many ST-4s were however sold with an adapter cable that went from the DB-15 connector on the control box to the RJ-12 jack.

Unfortunately we don't have that adapter cable available, as this product was discontinued many years ago. You would have to build your own.

    Here's a typical "ST-4" telescope connector jack:

If you look at page 41 of the ST-4 manual the pinout of the DB-15 connector is listed:

So what you need is an adapter cable, as follows:

    Function ST-4 Telescope
    North 13 5
    South 7 4
    East 4 3
    West 10 6
    Common 5,8,11,14 2
