Can you please help? I have an SBIG STF-8300M camera which I use with the CCDOps ver 5 software. I have a problem where I cannot cancel an imaging session after it has started. I have tried using the ESC key but that does not seem to work. Can anyone please help?

    Thanks Jan.

I bit more information that might help. I have found that if I press the ESC key straight away, the session will terminate. However, if I switch my focus to another application (even if it's already open) and then back to CCDOops, THEN the session will not terminate with the ESC key.

    Many thanks, Terry.

    Terry,
cannot confirm this. The ESC works well in both cases you have described on my setup. I used ST-i & STF-8300M, Windows 8.1, Notepad and other apps.
You could be more precise in description of this problem (OS, additional apps, etc.) , otherwise I can't check it more.
    Regards,
    Jan

    Hi Jan,

    Thanks for replying.

    I use the following setup:

    Dell Optiplex 980, Intel i7, 2.93 GH
Windows 7 Professional, Service Pack 1
I use a number of other apps such as PHD but the problem still occurs with only CCDOps ver 5 running. No other hardware powered up (I even disconnected my filter wheel) and no other software running.

    I choose Camera, Grab
    Exposure: (say) 20 sec
    Dark Frame: None
    Image Size: Full
    Exposure Delay: 0
    Special Processing: None (or Auto)

When the imaging session starts I can cancel by pressing the ESC key. But if I click the mouse anywhere outside the CCDOps window (even the Desktop) and then back to the CCDOps window the ESC key won’t cancel. I have to wait until it finishes that exposure or, if it’s on Auto, saves that exposure and starts another.

This problem is really annoying when I am using a long exposure of about 15 or 20 minutes.

    Many thanks, Terry.

    Terry,
now I see it too, when I click the desktop, the ccdops losts its focus if in grab mode. I will look at it, but can't promise I will fix it.

    Hi Jan,

I think the only cure would be small change to the program. Do you have any leverage with the developers? It wouldn't be difficult; just add a small interrupt.

    Terry.
