1-hour unguided M 101 in Baader B

    This is an image that was taken early in the evening a few nights ago as a test image, partly to test unguided imaging and partly to test/calibrate my camera, an STT-3200 at -30°C on a 130-mm f/7 refractor. Scale is 1.53"/pixel. As mentioned in another post, the camera noise terms (read, dark, and pixel-to-pixel non-uniformity) are negligible. Focus is a little soft, partly due to poor seeing and partly due to a temperature drop of about 10°C during the image, leading to focus shift.

    Minimal calibration has been applied, only hot pixels and saturation spikes have been removed in MaximDL. There are some cosmic rays. The image has been histogram stretched and one can see that the field is flat and that camera noise is negligible. The image is uncropped.
