Is there any sort of normal maintenance one should do for the FW motor? It has been getting louder and louder and causes quite significant vibrations through my telescope and periodically the filter wheel will rattle. I just took it off and tightened everything and it helped out, but the motor vibrates quite significantly like a motor that has the wrong microstepping or something. If I touch the bearing while it rotates it is a strong vibration. If you need a sound clip I will try to get a recording of it when it is rattling. But, I thought maybe it has been experienced and there's some sort of motor maintenance or bearing maintenance I am not performing. Thanks, Josh
The FW8G stepper motors are a little noisy acoustically, and the housing of the filter wheel acts like a guitar, amplifying the sound. It is generally harmless though, as the wheel does not turn while you are imaging.
