I'm using an STXL6303E, now for about 10 months. When I went out to the observatory after a night of imaging I could not hear the fan for the first time. The fan is usually quite audible. Now the automation program turns off cooling to zero after imaging and it was very cold last night, the coldest it has been. My question is , does the fan idle at times depending on temperature or operate at different speeds? I see no indication of a malfunction otherwise. The red light is on. All of the images register the correct temperature set point and the camera temp read zero as expected following the completion of the session.
    Thanks

The fan has an "auto mode", where its speed is automatically adjusted as needed. That is configurable from the Advanced Setup dialog.

Ok. Thanks. How is "advanced set up" accessed? I don't think I've ever seen it. Is that through the on board server?

In MaxIm DL it's under the Setup tab.

In CCDOPS it is under Camera / STX/STT / Fan Control...

You would have to ask Software Bisque. Most likely the answer is in the manual.
