I would like to run my camera (8300M) to a powered USB hub with a 3' usb cable. From the powered hub to my computer. Does anyone know if a 15' - 20' usb cable would work? Hub would also be connected to focuser, and autoguider.
    Thanks,
    Bill

The maximum allowed USB cable length is 16' 5" (5 meters).

You can use this maximum length to the hub, and from the hub to the camera.

The 8300M doesn't draw any power from the USB interface, so that is not a consideration. It's data communications integrity that limits the distance.

Generally speaking, if you're going to run a separate autoguider camera, then we strongly recommend NOT running it through the same hub as the main camera. This can result in too much USB traffic; often the hubs can't handle it. I've seen it fail in my own observatory; trying to run both at once resulted in one of them dropping out. So you might need a second hub and cables to make it work.
