I'm looking to get an extension cable for my ST2000XM - the CCD is going on a 14" double truss newt on a GEM, and the standard power lead isn't quite long enough to run down the trusses to the mount without dragging the brick around...

The power socket appears to be a standard 5 pin 180 degree DIN - can I use a 5 pin DIN extension cable here (MIDI extension) that's fully wired and designed to carry Phantom Power?

Example (or something similar) : http://r.ebay.com/lq00mD

    Thanks!

That's the right idea, however MIDI cables tend to have thin, flexible wire. The site didnt specify the wire gauge. I'd think you'd want 20AWG, maybe 18AWG to handle the current.

That's great - thanks. After a bit of digging, I think the wire gauge is way too thin so it's probably easiest to make my own here!
