    Hello,

I'm working with a customer who has an STXL-11002. Open shutter images look reasonable... about 850 ADU counts of background in a 5 second exposure. However, darks produce images with very high ADU counts. For example, a 0.1 second dark gives an image with 5000 - 10000 counts across the image, and a 1 second dark saturates every pixel. Even a bias has higher ADU counts than an open-shutter image (950 - 1100 counts).

This behavior appears to be roughly the same with the cooler turned off, or with the camera cooled to -30C. I also tried setting the preflash count to 0 but did not see any significant change. These tests were performed using Maxim DL 6.13.

I've attached a few FITS images that show this behavior.

Any ideas what might be happening?

    Thanks,
    Kevin

Make sure both the firmware and the driver software are up-to-date. Best to install a new driver checker because it's had upgrades related to firmware installation.

    Download location:

Does driver checker check the firmware?

Yes, there's a second tab in the SBIG Driver Checker that will connect to the camera and check firmware.

Thanks. I found it but the DriverChecker can't establish a link to the camera. The camera is open in Maxim DL. I can interrogate the camera driver from Deice manager/SBIIG USB Camera with Firmware.

It was the connection to Maxim that was blocking linking up.

It looks to me like the firmware update solved the problem.
    Thanks,
