The CCD temperature of my STXL-11002 camera will not go below -35C. Is that the design or is something wrong? marshall edgell
Marshall, The driver we use at least half a year or so allows you to set temperature setpoint to -50 C. Previously it was -35C. There may be some restrictions in applications, but it is not clear which one you use. Try CCDOps to see if you can set the CCD temperature setpoint to -50C. Thank you, Jan
Jan, is this driver release working on all of the STXL models? I have a customer which STXL cannot go lower than -35C. Since he is not very comfortable with PC I don't know if he has older drivers or uses a software that doesn't support the new setpoint limit. Best regards Mauro
Mauro, the CCD setpoint of -50C is applicable to _all_ SBIG CCD cameras and their submodels. This temperature setpoint was set back from -35C to -50C on request from production in November 2013, since driver version 4.76 B36. Please check the driver's version by opening the SbigDriverChecker64.exe as shown in snapshot below. You can easily update to the newest version by pressing "Download" and then "Update" buttons. Regards, Jan
I can set the temperature setpoint to -50C but the lowest temperature the camera will achieve is -35C. The power to maintain this is about 35%. I have updated the drivers; the DLL is 4.82 build 1, the 64 sys is 2.41.0.1338. marshall
The same here. I remember a thread in the SBIG maillist that the -35 limit was removed and then reintroduced, but don't know then what happened.
I have checked driver's value A few days ago and this is set to -50 C , but will check it once again a bit more carefully tomorrow. I will let you know. Jan
The word from engineering is that, due to a design tradeoff, the STXL cameras are limited to -35C maximum cooling.
