    I have a STF-8300M with FW8-8300.

It's can took pictures, but there is nothing in the image, all pixel is the same bright.
Every pixel count is 1000. You can't see signal or noise....

Trying upgrade firmware but still the same.

    What can I try?

I'm another customer, maybe I can help.
What software are you using to control the camera? Have you tested it with CCDOPS ?
Have you tried this on your kitchen table? Does the shutter open when you expose?

I used Maxim dl 6.14, never tested in CCDOPS.
I can see the shutter and filter working correct.

When expose 1~10 s , the image is the same . There is no noise.

It may need gain/offset to be reset. I'll pass this on to Tim.

In CCDOps, along the top there are several menu's, File, Edit, Camera, Utility, etc. Under the Edit Menu, choose Preferences. A "CCDOps Preferences" box will pop up. Under the red X (that would close the dialog box) in the upper right hand corner, there is a small gray square. Click that. Another box titled "Command Line Options" will pop up. At the very bottom, choose "Show Advanced Menu" and click "OK". The Advanced Menu will now be at the end of all those menus I mentioned above. This will give you access to the offset menu.

This is my first time want to see noise..

I tried offset menu, and CCD can see noise now.

    But still have problems!

Exposure by 1 sec. count is around 1000. (sure, there is some noise , can see normal distribution in histogram.)
Exposure by 1sec, cover the front , the count is around 1000, too.
Exposure by 4sec. using flash light to test , the count is still around 1000.
Actually, 100sec, and 0.1s , the count is still around 1000.

    What can I do?

Did it work at some point? Is this a new problem?
If you have a voltmeter, can you check the power supply is providing +12V ?
Can you post a sample FITS image?

Hmmm.... some regular patterns in with the noise. Looks like a hardware problem for sure.

I agree, something isn't right. Send me an email, bill@sbig.com, and I'll give you directions on sending it in.
