I have been working on a new scope setup which is equipped with a new STXL 11002. During my testing and imaging I have accumulated the following statistics for download times:

Using CCDOPS only: 2 second exposure bin 1x1 donwload time average 37 seconds
Using CCDAutoPilot with Sky X Camera control:
    Bin 1x1 538 downloads average 47 seconds
    Bin 3x3 113 downloads average 30 seconds

These download times are very slow compared to SBIG published specification
    Setup:
    1) I'm using a new WIN 7 64bit PC with 8 GB RAM i3 processor
    2) I have tried multiple on board USB 2.0 ports
    3) No external Hubs are used and I'm using the SBIG supplied 15 foot cable
    4) I checked and Windows device manager says the USB ports are running at "Hi Speed"
    5) I verified with Driver Checker that I'm up to date on drivers and firmware

Now that my scope is ready to go....I need to get this download speed issue fixed to dramatically improve times to building pointing models and general automated imaging which involves lots of plate solving.

Has anyone seen these slow download speeds and if so does anyone know of a fix?

    Thanks,
    Robert Mueller

    Hi Robert,

Do you have any debug flags set in Driver Checker 64? That is certainly known for increasing download times.

    Cheers,

    Adam,
Excellent suggestion....I did have a log running as I was trying to debug a previous camera issues. I did a quick test and download times are much better. I will assume all is well unless after firther tests I find otherwise.
    Thanks!

My pleasure! Here's hoping that was the issue.
