Well the camera is mounted and ready for use I'm told at SRO but getting the connection is not going well. Seems I can connect to the main chip but the Star Sense AO as a 2nd camera eludes me. Is there a fast connection diagram on how to configure the camera and filter wheel? I have used the ML Imaging setting for the camera but can't locate the manual at the moment. Just trying to get quick connection setup so I can test focus this evening. Is there a fast start guide to camera, AO and Filter setup. The filers are listed in order and the attached screen shots show messages I get trying to connect.......in person would be so much easier.....
From what I've been able to tell from 3K miles away is that the Star Chaser is powered as is evident in the screen capture w/ the 4.8 sized pixels. So not it's possible either a USB cable or power/or USB not connected on the main camera. Just to clarify, both the Star Chaser and the main camera will connect to the computer via USB cables, one for each. Each has its own power supply. Is there a connection diagram anywhere that I can send out to the staff at SRO?
Now that the new camera is mounted and ready for use at SRO I find I can't make a connection to the cameras. This setup has the BSI camera, StarChaser w/ AO, and 8 position filter wheel. It appears the camera has power as I'm told that the lights indicate so on the camera. Earlier I was able to see the connection to the StarChaser as Advanced shows 4.80 pixels but nothing on the imaging camera. I think the camera drivers were updated and MaxIm is the latest version 6.40. Being over 3,000 miles away doesn't help much but what else should I be looking for?
As of now I can only get the guide sensor (Star Chase) connected. Looking at Device Manager and I get the attached report for the SBIG Drivers. The camera is attached as seen in the screen captures. I did update MaxIm to 6.40 and also downloaded and installed the driver file listed with the camera page (AC4040BSI). It appeared to install when run. Maybe not?
Update, seems there was a FTD USB driver issue blocking the AC4040 from connecting although the guider had no issues.....go figure. It was hidden under Windows "Other Updates". So now I see both cameras and 3 entries under Device Manager: SBIG Camera, SBIG Camera A, and SBIG Camera B. Now to get the proper settings in MaxIm to connect as needed.........
Camera Control Window - Setup tab. Turn OFF [ ] Dual Chip Mode. Camera 1 - the main camera - has an AC4040 is a single chip camera. Camera 1 [Setup Camera] Model = DL Imaging. Pick Advanced, and double click on the AC4040xxx in the list. OKs. Filter Wheel 1 [Setup Camera] Model = DL Imaging + FW. Set it up. Camera 2 [Setup Camera] Model = DL Imaging. Pick Advanced, and double click on the SC1300xxx in the list. OKs. Camera 2 needs the AO set o Sensor 1 - there is only 1 sensor in the SC3, so that's the one for AO. Each camera (AC4040, SC3) is independently powered and connected via USB to computer. There is no electrical connection between SC3 and AC4040. The FW connects to the AC4040 AUX port. The AO-X connects to the SC-3 AUX port.
Thanks Colin, I was working through the manual and trying to see in my mind how things were connected and getting very confused. The FTD USB driver issue was hidden in "Other Updates" which didn't help. And being remote really works on me in the setup phase of things....easier to see and do then try to envision and as for something to be done, then test again... I haven't been back on since so we'll see. Getting the AO focused might be a challenge....
