    Hi All,

When I try to get the PHD2 guiding working with the STT self guilder wheel, it doesn't work properly.
In PHD2, I selected "SBIG" and "USB".
    And select the following: https://goo.gl/M94Vtn

Then I start the exposure but there is always a "shutter sound" for each expo. Is this normal ?
Also, there is no image taken (ie PHD2 shows only dark screen) even with long long exposure.
Here is the video I took:

    Please advise.

    Kai,

The clacking sound is the shutter opening and closing and isn't a problem. Do you have "External" selected as the active guider?

    Thanks Bill.

I guess the shutter opening/closing sound is from main CCD.
If I select "NO" in this window (https://goo.gl/IEYH5B), it looks like it will get the tracking CCD...
A bug at PHD2 or SBIG driver?

That's the shutter in FW clacking. I've never used PHD2, my only experience is with CCDOps, you just have to be sure to select External when choosing the guide chip.

    Bill,

In CCDOps, there is only "Internal" selection available... (screenshot: https://goo.gl/UGjp2Y)
    Anything I miss ?

BTW, I have the latest SBIG driver ...

Just would like to clarify few things:

    (1) I think it is normal hearing "shutter sound" with tracking CCD. I can see the shutter working fine (by looking at the tracking CCD).

    (2) However, there is still no image (fully dark) even with 2sec expo... I guess my guilder CCD is dead? (I bought this "brand new"/"never-open" used...)

    Please advice...

I talked to Bill and seems like there is a potential issue of the latest driver and/or CCDops where we cannot select "external" active tracking CCD...

I connected to the version of CCDOps that I downloaded from the web and the option to select the Internal or External Guider was grayed out just like in the picture posted by Kai earlier in this thread. Appears to be STT specific because the STX I just checked gives me the choice.

    Tim,

Thank you for the help and confirm.
It will be great if we can get the driver/software fix soon...
    Thanks.

When I got my STT it came with Maxim or I got a license at the same time and I swear there was some driver that was very Maxim specific but I also recall that when I set it up with SBIG CCDOpps also worked fine. If I can remember I'll try to see what is going on with my set-up tonight....

    Kai,

I've learned that it isn't software. Call or send me an email, bill@sbig.com, 805 308-6979.
