I have the STLX 11002 camera and I just got done baking the dessicant today, reinstalled it and got it all hooked up. The chip is chilled down to a -30 degrees and I have white horizonal lines on the image. Any ideas of what this could be??

    Thank you,

    Mike

Please post a bias frame in FITS format, so we can have a look.

OK, I have done two darks at -30 binned at 3x3 and one at 1x1. The dark binned at 1x1 does not show the HORIZONTAL lines. I will post the images but need to know how to reduce the image size. Sorry.

ZIP may compress them enough to upload. If not, use FileZilla (free app) to upload via anonymous ftp to ftp.diffractionlimited.com

Mike - I just had a quick look - that bias frame is saturated.
Have you got current firmware on your camera?

OK, I just updated my firmware as instructed and have taken another bias frame. BTW, I don't know if this matters or not, but I had it binned 3x3 and no cooler on. I'm retaking one with the cooler on at -30 binned at 3x3 and then 1x1, if that matters.

OK, this second set is with the cooler on at -31, binned at 1x1 and 3x3.

At this point, the SBIG/Diffraction team will need to weigh in.
The first image you posted, bias frame compressed - is all white, entirely values of 65535 from what I can tell, not sure what lines you are seeing. Any chance of sending a JPG or PNG screen shot? Are you using a remote desktop utility or screen scaling?

The later images have a very weird blob to the upper left, as well as 65535 values in the horizontal lines. Did you power cycle the camera after firmware update? Is it covered? (and shutter working?). What happens if you shoot a dark or a light? I've not seen this sort of thing, so someone with more expertise will have to weigh in.

A couple other ideas came to mind - any chance you might have knocked a connector loose / unseated something when you changed the dessicant plug? Have you opened up the camera and had another look to be sure?
Was it 100% fine BEFORE opening it up and removing the desiccant plug?

I was using it on Thursday night to focus our 20" scope. Everything started out fine, then something went wrong. I have NO idea what could have happened because I haven't dropped it, or done anything that would cause any damage. When I went back in to check it out inside, I did find the O ring around the dessicant was loose, so it wasn't sealed. So, I made sure the O ring got back on there and retightened the dessicant. I went ahead and uploaded the flash update yesterday, the took the two bias frames that I posted. SO, I don't know what the deal is.

BTW, if you notice the bias binned at 3x3, you should have seen the lines.
