Hi all over the past few nights, the connection to the camera (from within The SkyX) has been terminated unexpectedly. I am seeing a number of errors logged by CCDAutopilot for example: CDSoft2XAdaptor.CCDSoft5Image.1: COleException: Access is denied. (80070005) SCODE: 80070005. OR 01:59:50 I:TI1, CCDSoft2XAdaptor.CCDSoft5Camera.1: A Camera command is already in progress. Error = 120. I have also seen a SkyX error 'SBIG Driver Camera not found error 3001" I have also noticed that a TXRXTimeout log is now created: Here is the printout of that and it was created right at the moment the camera failed this evening: At t = 0.000: ------------------------- At t = 0.000: ReadComPipe : Rx Error - 8 At t = 0.000: ------------------------- At t = 0.000: ReadComPipe : Rx Error - 32 At t = 0.000: ------------------------- At t = 0.001: ReadComPipe : Rx Error - 8 At t = 10.101: ------------------------- At t = 10.101: ReadComPipe : Rx Error - 8 At t = 20.566: ------------------------- At t = 20.566: ReadComPipe : Rx Error - 8 At t = 30.787: ------------------------- At t = 30.787: ReadComPipe : Rx Error - 8 At t = 93.375: ------------------------- At t = 93.375: ReadComPipe : Rx Error - 8 Sometimes I have to cycle the power because when I try to reconnect to the camera I get 'Camera not found', other times I can just quit and restart the SkyX and reconnect without issue. Right now, this is happening nightly. I have checked all of my cables, none are loose and there doesnt seem to be anything obvious in the Windows event logs. I can confirm latest driver and firmware are installed Any suggestions please? thanks Martin
Next time it happens, instead of pulling the power on the camera, pull the USB plug out and reinsert it. If the camera comes back then the problem is related to the USB interface. If it doesn't then the camera's firmware has crashed. That will narrow things down substantially.
Doug A few nights ago, I plugged the camera into a different USB port on the PC and it seemed to settle down plus I rolled The SkyX back to the formal Nov 16 release. Last night the camera did fail so I unplugged the USB cable, the SkyX generated an error (expected) and plugged it back in. I regained control of the camera. So how do I resolve this? Is there a fault on the camera side or PC side? The PC has 2 other USB devices plugged in and I have not seen an issue there. Humidity at the site has been routinely high for some weeks now - is it moisture? Anyway, grateful for further assistance. Thanks Martin
Okay so that suggests something is indeed happening with the USB interface. So you are directly plugging it into the PC, without a hub? Are you using the cable that came with the camera? Did you try a different cable? Note: if it is a desktop we strongly recommend plugging into a USB connector on the back, not one on the front panel; they are degraded by the internal wiring.
Yes, directly into the rear ports on a PC (fit-PC mounted on the OTA). I use a high quality, gold plated USB cable, not the one that came with the camera, but I can change it and see if it makes a difference. Are you suggesting the provided USB cable is in someway different?
Yes could be. USB 2.0 is somewhat susceptible to degradation due to impedance mismatches. It's worth checking.
