    Hello.

A week ago we updated the driver and firmware of our STXL-11002M FW8-G and since that moment the auto guiding gives us an error. We can start guiding as always, but when the main camera starts to take images the guiding camera looses the signal. It seems like if the guiding shooter remains closed. When we stop the process we can start guiding again. And we again loose the guiding at the moment we connect the main CCD.

We know that the guiding CCD is working because we can see it's hot pixels in its correct place. But it is a dark picture.

It seems to be we have a problem with the new firmware.

Please, how can we repair it?

    Thanks

Check the internal/external remote guider setting. Should be set to external. My setting mysteriously changed the other day. Just a thought.

What software are you using for camera control?

True, the driver was changed as internal for some reason that we do not know, we have changed it as external and now the guiding works perfect.

The software we use is CCDSoft, but we want to change it to Maxim DL 6.

Great! I had also recently updated the firmware on my STXL.

Question for Tim: Does the FW8-G guide camera have a mechanical shutter?

The FW8G does have a mechanical shutter.

Please note though that you'll never see an error message originating from the guider's shutter. It's a simple device that doesn't have (or need) a position sensor.
