STXL1102 Vertical line at position 1 and 5

    Hi,

    Since a long time l have 2 verticals lines into a light, dark or bias frame. If i take a sub frame i have the same 2 verticals lines. Verticals lines are always at column 1 and 5.

    At full frame: Column 1 and 5 are bad
    In a sub frame coming from the center of the chip column 1 and 5 are bad
    In a sub frame coming from the right side of the chip column 1 and five are bad ...

    Same problem even i use MaximDl or TheSkyX

    Because of this, this can't be a defect column into the chip ..

    Please use the Upload a file to attach a Bias, Dark, and Light FITS image (preferable from CCDOPS or MaxIm).
    If it is too big, then Dropbox works.

    I see the column issue in the 3 large images, in column 1, and 5.
    This is within the specifications of the sensor from ON Semiconductor, but I see them in the subframe as well.
    What's the serial number of the camera ?
    Is this a new problem?

    A couple of these images look like they were taken with TheSkyX, different versions.
    I also see banding in big blocks in the images.
    Are you using the original power supply that came with the camera?
    How are you guiding your images? e.g. are you using an ST-I to guide? or something else?
    Do you get these issues taking a bias and dark with CCDOPS or MaxIm manually, without any other software involved?

    Are you using the original power supply that came with the camera? YES
    How are you guiding your images? e.g. are you using an ST-I to guide? or something else? SBIG Self-Guiding STXL Filter Wheel
    Do you get these issues taking a bias and dark with CCDOPS or MaxIm manually, without any other software involved? Yes

    Yes we changed the powerbrick last year.

    All are available remotely using remote desktop is you need to take a look.

    Tomorow l will go to my observatory and make a try using the old power brick

    This doesn't make much sense as a symptom - it's not something we've seen before. So I don't see how it could be firmware.

    Unfortunately I don't see sample images for that camera in our production share. We may need to check with the assembler, though, as she may have them on her machine.

    I've gone through the Engineering Change Orders for the camera. There aren't many, and there's absolutely nothing related to hardware that would be remotely relevant.

    If you want to send it in for evaluation, it would have to come to Ottawa for engineering investigation. Given that the artefact is at the very edge of the frame I'm not sure it is worthwhile.
