Hello, I have a problem with my STX 16803 and need some advice. Since a few months ago, when I cool the ccd chamber, I have condensation around the Kaf sensor. It's not in his totality, around de half diagonal. After around 20 minutes, the condensation disapears and I can shoot all night without problem. I baked the desiccant plug two times but the problem remains. What can I do more ? Buy another one ? The ccd is around three years old and used for around 200 hours in normal humidity conditions (50-60%). Thank you and regards, Miguel
Should be fine at that temperature. Did you follow the baking procedure in the manual? You do need to use a fairly high temperature, because the desiccant will not release the moisture otherwise. It needs to be 350F / 175C. What is your camera serial number?
When you baked the desiccant, did you first remove the O-ring from the desiccant plug? And then replaced it when you reinstalled the plug? If not, the O-ring may be missing or damaged, in which case it won't seal properly.
You can either try it again, being careful to verify the correct baking temperature, or you can send it in to @Bill at SBIG Service & Repair.
