Hey, I am writing this on behalf of the GROWTH-India Team. We were using an Andor Camera for our robotic telescope but we need to shift to a SBIG STF-8300M. Is there any existing setup to properly mount the 8300M for a telescope?
There are many ways to attach an STF-8300M to a telescope. What kind of telescope do you have, and what size is the focuser draw tube or atachment port? If you just have the camera, it comes with a 2" nosepiece that threads into an M42x0.75 T-thread on the face of the camera. There are also 4 mounting holes on it for custom adapters. Usually people will have an FW8-8300 filter wheel on the front of the STF, and then use one of our standard adapter plates and/or nosepieces to attach it. When you add the filter wheel, you can choose one of the following options: http://diffractionlimited.com/product/adapter-plate-t-thread/ http://diffractionlimited.com/product/adapter-plate-m48-thread/ http://diffractionlimited.com/product/adapter-plate-2-x-24-thread/ http://diffractionlimited.com/product/adapter-plate-2-156-x-24-thread/ You can find more information on the DOWNLOADS tab for the camera here: http://diffractionlimited.com/products/cameras-accessories/stf-series/
