    SBIG STXL 6303, SN X17010004

My STXL has been working fine but no more.

I’ve been doing long time-series runs.

Two nights ago it ran for about five hours with no problems.

Last night after about two hours of running it quit.

Now when I apply power, the fan spins up briefly and then quits.

With power on, the control panel shows the SBIG USB Devices / SBIG USB Camera with Firmware entry. The Red and top green lights on the side of the camera are illuminated.

An attempt to take a picture returns SBIG Error OS_Error.

Using 6' USB cable. A 3' cable gives same result.

    No hub.

    Win 10 pro 64-bit.

    Drivers are current.

    Another trip to Lompoc?

I think @Bill will need to weigh in on this one.
    Things to check:
    1. Did you double check the AC cord is solidly into the power pack?

    2. Disconnect the AC wall plug.
Check the DC extension between the power supply and the camera.
    Reseat all connectors.

    3. What happens if you remove the camera from the scope, disconnect the USB, and just plug in the power to the wall socket?

Am thinking there could be a shorted cable, or break in a lead somewhere.

    4. Does your filter wheel home/rotate/make a sound?

The fan behavior you mention is what happens when the firmware gets bricked. Did you have an unsuccessful firmware update lately?

Bill, I have not attempted a firmware update for some time - certainly not in the last week.

Colin, I disconnected and reconnected all of the connections in the power train. I tried the complete set of power cables and supply from a second, working STXL.

No sound from the filter wheel. (At least with this wheel, you can really hear when it moves - clank, clank!)

All the same result. Upon power applicant, the fan starts up and shuts down.

Strange indeed. Do you have TeamViewer? Send me an email, bill@sbig.com.
