Is there a way to have new posts sent to my email?
    Thanks, Tom

At the bottom of the screen there is an 'options' choice. In the options you can watch the thread and get e-mails.

I would like to get emails on all posts without the need to come to the forum, navigate through all the threads that interest me, then navigate to a place at the end of each thread to select getting new post in my email. Is there a way to just get all forum threads sent to my email like I currently get with Yahoo Groups?

There's a watch forum option, that may cause you to get an alert every time a message is sent to that forum. Worth experimenting to see what is available.

Yahoo has been getting more and more difficult to use, especially for administration. I'm not surprised that people are moving away from it.

agree - i hate yahoo as well but it's much easier to keep up with everything when it's just delivered to your inbox. i can't seem to figure out how to watch a forum but i'll keep looking for the options button... all i see is "more options" at the bottom of this text entry box. that lets me follow the thread but no the whole forum.

There's some "watch forum" text in the forum display, at the top right.

i see. this text only appears on the 'leaf' forums. there's no way to watch, for instance, the top-level "SBIG Products" forum, meaning that you have to click down thru to all the leaf forums and watch each one individually. anyway it's probably all too much of a firehose; what the forum software needs is a digest mode like yahoo had.

You'll get used to not being able to post via email. The mail you get while watching the forum has a link to the thread. One click and you're ready to reply in context.

bob, i almost never post via email. i'm talking about the ability to get up in the morning and read the digest of the SBIG mailing list all in one go. as things stand that's gone forever.

lots of mailing lists have transitioned to forums like this and the inability to get a digest of the whole thing is a big step backwards. i know i've lost touch with a lot of products because i don't have time to run around to 10 different forums and sift thru what's new.

    Yeah I understand now...

If you can hang on till they get Tapatalk going, and if you have an android/iOS device, you can get "push" notifications, and when you open it you'll see all of the unread posts in all forums in a nice list.

They have to install the back end support first. Hang on for that. They said they'll do it but they ran into some problem and things are a bit busy there :)

Do I understand correctly that the only way I can get emails on all topics is through Tapatalk? And that only works on mobile devices?

Yes, that is correct. Sending email notifications for forums constantly would result in too much system resource overhead, and likely slow down the forums for all users. It may have been a simple matter for the old Yahoo groups, but we do not have unlimited resources as they do.

The only other option would be to setup your email client to receive RSS feeds if it has that capability.

Thanks for replying, but that's a real bummer! I'll try tapatalk but I really need that capability on my PC. I try to keep traffic on my iPhone and iPad to a minimum. IOS email functions are terrible. Seems like this forum is big step backwards.

I vote for Tapatalk push notifications. They drive me crazy (from here and my own tech support forums).
