I have been running some quantitative tests on my AC455. The specs are clearly showing the camera is set for gain = low/1 (full well 50442 e- ; read noise ~4e-). I have tried to set the gain to high (3.0 in ASCOM), and I get the same test results.

My assumption is I need to configure the Read0ut mode (p. 40 in user manual) in Maxim DL to high gain.

My question is will the camera remember the readout mode when I move it to ASCOM drivers? The gain setting in the ASCOM parameters do not appear to do anything (I set high = 3 low=1 for test #1; and high =3.0 low - 3.0 for test #2; results were the same.

Also, it would be very useful to set up the Maxim DL Imaging ASCOM drivers to allow the gain to be modified though other software. Is that in the cards?

    Regards, Vince

Hi Vince - I'll try this myself to see what's going on and get back to you.

It looks like TheSkyX doesn't know about readout modes... at least it is not offering me any in the Camera Add-on settings for the Camera.
Can you check the ASCOM Properties for "Default Readout Mode" and set it to "High Gain".

If that doesn't fix it, send me a screen shot of the ASCOM properties.
I want to know the version you have of:
    DLAPI
    DLAPIWrapper
    ASCOM.DLImaging.Camera
    Can I assume you have:
    TheSky X 10.5.0 daily build 13936 (64-bit)
ASCOM Platform (should be 7 update 2)

    Thanks
