Hi I have come across a most bizarre problem that I have not encountered before. The 16200 I am referring to is the one I bought from you right before CCD went out of fashion. It got sent back to you much later as it was defective upon first use. Well now, I have reason to use it again and have attached the FW8S filter wheel to it. Yet, doing so, jams the shutter in place. I have checked and double checked that I have installed it correctly and to get it to work, I have had to put tiny washers beneath the screws that attach the red anoized base to the camera. Unfortunately, in doing so I cannot get the camera to focus and I cannot reduce the spacing any further. But this is most odd given I have used the same FW with STXL 11002 cameras with no problem. Please advise. Martin
Martin, To be clear, the shutter works correctly with the filter wheel not attached? Are you able to provide some photos to show how you have it oriented, including with the filter wheel removed?
Tim…yes, without the filter wheel or just the filter wheel base attached, the shutter works just fine. The FW can really only go on one way with the aperture on the base aligning with the sensor aperture. The red anodized base that has to be attached to the camera to accommodate the FW also can only go on one way. I will try and get some pictures but right now that assembly has been removed. Regards Martin
Tim....can you send me a photograph if possible, or describe the washer arrangement beneath/through the shutter? thanks Martin
I am not sure what you mean, "beneath/through the shutter". I don't believe there are any washers on the camera shutter for the STXL cameras. The only washer that is in the shutter assembly is the bellville washer for the center shoulder screw under the bearings.
The main reason for shutters getting stuck when a filter wheel is installed is that non-standard, i.e. too long, screws are used. That blocks the shutter so it can't rotate.
