Hello. I realize that this is more of a SBIG question, but I'm wondering if anyone has had trouble with their SBIG STL11000M CCD not cooling down. I connect and then click on Cooler and set the temperature point, but the camera doesn't cool below ambient - sits at 100% until I turn off the cooler. I've tried to cook the desiccant plug in an oven, but no difference. I purchased it in October 2006, so it's probably just old and the cooling ability has died. Still, any suggestions? - and yes, I plan on getting a ZWO ASI6200M camera down the track. Regards John D
The external power supply for the STL may have started to fail - the capacitors dry out and fail over time. Check the LED lights on the side of the camera body - the STAT status light should be on or blinking green. The low voltage lights and HOT light should be off. If low voltage lights are on, then it is either the cable or power supply. Check the fan is clear of debris and is turning. Are you wired directly from the power pack to the camera? If you have through-the-mount-cabling, there may be too much of a voltage drop due to insufficient wire gauge. What's the ambient temperature? I recommend our SBIG Aluma AC455 instead of the ASI6200M. Way better built. https://diffractionlimited.com/product/sbig-aluma-ac455/
