I'm not sure where the best place for this is, so please move this topic to another forum if necessary. We use our telescope for both eyepiece and camera viewing. This means that we constantly have to attach and remove the camera, which is a hassle for many reasons. I'd like to try and get a flip mirror so we can have the the eyepiece and camera permanently installed on the telescope. We have a 2" draw tube on the telescope. My first concern is finding a flip mirror that can do this, especially one for a 2" tube. I was able to get a Mead 647 (https://www.astronomylog.co.uk/files/meade-647-flip-mirror-instructions.pdf) but the side that connects to the camera only has a 1.25" adapter, and the 47-10 has a 2" aperture. Another concern is attaching it all to the telescope. I'll need a nose piece adapter to fit the flip mirror in the 2" draw tube. There are two thumb screws in the tube push on whatever is in there to secure it in place. My concern is that I'll have the weight of the flip mirror, the eyepiece, the camera/filter wheel/guide camera resting on two thumb screws (they're large, but still), and I don't know how secure it will really be. There is no way, in the present setup, to screw any attachment to the telescope - it's all held through the draw tube by the screws. We have a safety cable that attaches to the camera and telescope but that's it. Has anyone done anything like this before, and do you have any suggestions?
What about the Baader flipmirror 2 ? It looks like it has many attachments supplied, T2 and M48. Also buying a matching click lock would be great for visual.
I saw that one and am considering getting it. I'm worried about the weight on the telescope, but it could be worth a try.
