    Dear all,

I had to change the fan of my STX16803, and forgot to take a picture of the original connector before removing the three (red, black and yellow) cables from the connector.

I could not find anywhere on the web a schematic of what is the color ordering of these three cables.

Can someone tell me if it is correct in the picture here below?

    Thanks a lot,

    Simon

    From left to right:
    1. Fan Power
    2. Fan RPM Sensor
    3. Ground
You should check the fan data sheet, but if I had to guess, you should swap the yellow and black wires.

    Hi Doug,

Thanks a lot for the fast reply. The fan datasheet confirms the color code red=power, black=ground and yellow=sensor.

Now with the correct cabling, the camera and fan starts normally, I can take some images, etc... but it seems however that one bad cable ordering I did try beforehand might have damaged the board because when the cooling is activated and power consumption ~50%, any attempt to take a picture results in an error message:

"InitExposure Error -> [CCD #0] (STX) Start Exposure FAILED (Driver's Fault)"

The camera is at that point non operational. If you think to something I can check/test on that camera to understand where the problem comes from, don't hesitate to let me know.

    Best,

    Simon

Unfortunately, giving the fact I live in Europe, the cost of shipping to and from the US + the repair will probably cost more than a second-hand STX I might find here around.

    Have a good day,

    Simon

Shipping is to Canada, and second hand STX's go for a lot of money compared to the usual repair cost.
