my sbig camera stt-8300m is just getting a black screen when imaging. my onboard guider is doing fine. also i just used pempro and the image was fine. some kind of setting must be off or something. any ideas?
If the main sensor is producing a black image, then it's probably a hardware problem with the camera. First thing to try is recharging the desiccant. If there's enough water in the chamber it can cause problems with the sensor. (Also if it is left like that long enough, the sensor pins will be corroded.) If drying it out doesn't change anything, then it may have had a component failure.
i hooked up my other computer and it worked. dunno what it is. that desiccant has been in there for 12 years. do i need a new one? where do i find a new one?
Hard to explain with changing computers. You don't need a new desiccant. You just need to recharge the old one. The procedure is in the user manual.
