Are there any plans on providing the additional data into the Maxim measurement AAVSO format that would allow that to be inputted into a transformational program to produce transformed data? Fields like VMAGINS, CMAGINS, and KREFMAG?

    Hi John,
I'm not quite sure what you'd like to see in MaxIm.
Could you sketch it out a bit more for me?
e.g. are you looking to enter some of this data or have MaxIm precalculate it, or what?
Would would the ideal workflow be like?
Are you looking for extensions to the AAVSO format that MaxIm outputs?

Sorry for not being clearer. Here is one line from MAXIM and one line from LesvePhotometry. LesvePhotometry has additional data that I can feed into a program to transform the data using coefficients. I didn't see how to get the additional data out of MAXIM. I would like to use MAXIM because it is the fastest for processing and seems to have the least variability and highest solve rate (compared to LP, Phoranso, and AIJ).

    MAXIM
    #NAME,DATE,MAG,MAGERR,FILTER,TRANS,MTYPE,CNAME,CMAG,KNAME,KMAG,AIRMASS,GROUP,CHART,NOTES

    LesvePhotometry
    #NAME,DATE,MAG,MERR,FILT,TRANS,MTYPE,CNAME,CMAG,KNAME,KMAG,AIRMASS,GROUP,CHART,NOTES

So you're looking for MaxIm to generate the extended information in the NOTES field?
e.g. the stuff in the extended part of the file with the | section?

    Reference: https://www.aavso.org/aavso-extended-file-format

Currently, I don't think that NOTES data is in the list of exportable options in the CSV file. Did you check?

If you can give me the specifics, I can put in a feature request for the future.

The stuff in the NOTES field is not a specific set of data. It is additional data that is supplied to the AAVSO. In the case of tranformed data, you need the VMAGINS, CMAGINS, CREFMAG, CREFERR, KMAGINS, KREFMAG and KREFERR. The CREFERR, KREFERR, CREFMAG, and KREFMAG are constants which you normally enter (CREFMAG and KREFMAG are already entered into MAXIM). VMAGINS, KMAGINS, and CMAGINS are computed and may be in the program but I didn't see them in the export list. Actually, I could just get by with the computed instrumental magnitudes (since the others are constants, they can be added to the notes after coming out of MAXIM with the ****INS data. Does that make sense?

OK, I'm going to number these items, for easier discussion. Keep in mind I'm not a photometry expert, and don't know all the AAVSO processes yet.
I had a look at the exportable parameters, and they are not in the list; probably because the earlier AAVSO format (not the extended AAVSO format) didn't have them.
Maybe skip ahead to #8 and then come back and run through this.
I'm kinda "thinking out loud" here.

I'm not sure if we are on the same page on this point.
AAVSO defines what can be in the NOTES field, which could include random text, and then the extra data values with |.
    1. Do you want a way to enter the NOTES from MaxIm, and optionally include the extra fields?

    2. Are you saying AAVSO expects this WHEN it is transformed data, right?

    3. Where do you enter this? In the file manually or into VPHOT or some other AAVSO system?

    4. Yep, we're on the same page, if you have entered the mag for 1 comparison and 1 check star, it's already entered in the table where you tag the stars. Right?

    5. So you want to have a place in MaxIm to enter CREFERR, KREFERR so that they are available to be exported in the AAVSO extended data, right?

    6. I don't think these are readily available. We'd have to add these 3 to the export.

    7. I'm not following.
Do you mean that you would manually calculate KMAGINS and CMAGINS, using AIRMASS from the platesolved image data, and then enter them somewhere to be exported?
I'm thinking it would make more sense for Maxim to compute VMAGINS, KMAGINS, and CMAGINS and make them available to export.

    8. Summarizing, here's what I think you may be asking for export:
    1. VMAGINS, CMAGINS, KMAGINS - target, comp, check star instrumental magnitudes which MaxIm presumably already calculates.
    2. CREFMAG and KREFMAG - comp and check ref mags, which you have already entered.
    3. CREFERR and KREFERR are the errors of the reference magnitudes - So we need a way to input these two into MaxIm.
    4. VX, CX and KX - airmass calculations for the 3 stars. We'd have to do these three calculations.
    5. NOTES - allow data entry of random text to go into the Notes field.
    6. Export AAVSO Extended data - which would include all the stuff as define above.

I think you have it with the summary in 8. Don't really need VX,CX, and KX. Just a clarification on 8.5. The NOTES field is where the additional data would go seperated by "|"

Perfect. We're on the same page.
I will work on submitting this as a feature request.

Hi John, turns out I already have a feature request in for this, from discussions I had with George Silvis.
I'll update it with comments from this discussion.
