If I send you the serial number of an Sbig camera, can you tell me what grade the 16803 chip was that was installed in it? Thanks
There is only one grade of KAF-16803 (aside from engineering grade). It was available with and without AR coated window. As far as I know all SBIG cameras that were built with new sensors had the sensor window. We have "transplanted" a few windowless sensors since the chips were discontinued.
Here are all of the available options: KAF−16803−ABA−DD−BA Monochrome, Microlens, CERDIP Package (Sidebrazed, CuW), AR Coated 2 Sides, Standard Grade KAF−16803−ABA−DD−AE Monochrome, Microlens, CERDIP Package (Sidebrazed, CuW),AR Coated 2 Sides, Engineering Sample KAF−16803−ABA−DP−BA Monochrome, Microlens, CERDIP Package (Sidebrazed, CuW),Taped Clear Cover Glass, Standard Grade KAF−16803−ABA−DP−AE Monochrome, Microlens, CERDIP Package (Sidebrazed, CuW),Taped Clear Cover Glass, Engineering Sample There were two grades for the more sensitive and rather more expensive KAF-16801, which was always windowless. We did build a number of STX-16801 cameras.
