Hi, I'm considering purchasing a SBIG STF-8300M camera with SBIG FW5 filter wheel and OAG-8300. I need to know which adapters are needed to fit OAG-8300 to my Pyxis 3" rotator. I think I'll need this: https://www.sbig.com/products/accessories/stl-cover-for-oag-8300/ and then #17843 3-inch to STL 2.156”x 24tpi male thread adapter from Optec's catalog. Am I right? In that case, what is the back-focus usage of this 2.156" x 24 thread adapter plate? thanks, Marko
If you have the OAG cover with the 2.156 female threads it should work. http://www.optecinc.com/astronomy/prices/astronomy_price_list.pdf 17843 3-inch to STL 2.156”x 24tpi male thread adapter. I would still Call Optec to confirm on the Pyxis side of things. Regards Tim
Hi Tim, So there are optional OAG covers? Where can I find information regarding these? Marko EDIT: Oops, I see: the adapter plate is the "cover", right?
Hi again, Jeff at Optec suggested this: http://www.optecinc.com/astronomy/catalog/17806.htm So my question is: could this 17806 be bolted directly on the OAG-8300 without any other optional adapters?
The OAG-8300 bolt circle is four 4-40 screws on a 3.05 diameter (1.525 radius). The Optec page indicates a 1.9" x 1.9" square bolt pattern. That corresponds to a 1.34" radius. So they are not compatible.
One more question: do you have the STL-threaded adapter https://www.sbig.com/products/accessories/stl-cover-for-oag-8300/ in stock?
