Hello, I had this working before my computer crashed so moved to another old laptop running Windows 10. I reinstalled MaximDL 6.22 (also tried with MaximDL6.21 earlier version) along with SetupDLAPI. However the Aluma 8300 device, it is connected with an FW8G-Aluma (guider + filterwheel), the device does not come up in MaximDL, when trying to connect using DL Imaging. I see the following error -- during Setup Camera --> Setup DL Imaging --> Advanced. see below. ERROR Camera not initialized. Any suggestions how to debug this further? I have rechecked and verified the USB cable, power and other cables. Windows reboot etc. I am trying to get my hands on a different PC to try it out separately. with regards, -Kalpesh
Just a quick update. Tried with a different PC running Windows 11 and vanilla (Windows provided) SBIG USB drivers and everything works great and no issues with MaximDL 6.22. Do not see the "Camera not initialized" error. Also on the earlier laptop (Windows 10) where it was failing with MaximDL, the ASCOM DL Imaging driver works fine when used with TheSkyX. Seems like only an issue with MaximDL 6.22 (and 6.21) on Windows 10. Investigating further. Thanks -Kalpesh
Update and Question. 1. Remove all programs from PC Windows 10, Maxim DL 6.22, DLAPIInstaller 2.4.1.0 (SetupDLAPI) and ASCOM DLIImaging Camera 6.4.13.0. 2. Power down and Disconnect SBIG ALUMA 8300 3. Reboot 4. Connect USB cable. 5. Verify Device manager it shows up SBIG Camera A and SBIG Camera B. 6. Install Maxim DL 6.22, verify DL-Config <-- Works fine a. setup camera - Aluma b. setup dual-chip mode (Aluma-FW8G) c. setup filterwheel - DLImaging + FW 7. Verify exposure, dark, guide camera, filter wheel <-- Works fine. 8. Start up TheSkyX and connect to DL imaging (absent) 9. Install ASCOM driver from this location -- https://diffractionlimited.com/down/DLImagingASCOMDriverInstaller.exe ( Follow instructions in -- https://forum.diffractionlimited.com/threads/sbig-dl-imaging-driver-installation.8019/) 10. TheSkyX (32bit) complains while connecting -- presume missing DLAPI. 11. Install setupDLAPI (2.4.1.0) 12. Maxim DL complains like above, Camera not initialized. 13. TheSkyX works fine with the camera, but not the dual-chip guider camera (ASCOM) and the filterwheel. ( Tried the above again from step 1, but installing SetupDLAPI first and then the DL*ASCOMDriverInstaller driver -- same issue.) Went back to Windows 11 1. Installed SetupDLAPI (2.4.1.0) 2. MaximDL show the same error as Windows 10, "Camera not initialized". Question, Do you see a compatibility issue between using MaximDL 6.22 and SetupDLAPI.exe 2.4.1.0 (along with DLImaging ASCOM driver) and is it okay to use both together? Hi Kalpesh, 1. Complete Step 2 of registering for support: https://forum.diffractionlimited.com/pages/TechSupportHowTo/ 2. In MaxIm, Help... Check for Updates. I believe you are entitled to a much newer version of MaxIm, although you have not renewed support. 3. Check DL Config driver version is at least 2.4.0.0 If not, then update the SetupDLAPI.exe 4. Check that "dlapi.dll" is *NOT* found in C:\Program Files (x86)\Diffraction Limited\MaxIm DL 6 If it is, delete it. Otherwise it will be in conflict with the one in C:\Windows\SysWOW64 which is where it is supposed to be. Are you trying to use TheSky X to control everything via ASCOM, or are you trying to use TSX -> MaxIm's camera ?
Hello Colin, Thank you for your reply. 1. I completed Step 2. the registration for support. 2. I will check Maxim for updates again. 3. DL config driver is 2.4.1.0 as mentioned earlier. 4.
