Hi guys, I currently own an STXL-11002, FW8G and AOX combo. I was looking at the upcoming Aluma 4040 and wondering whether my FW8G and AOX is compatible with it. Of course, I'd rather not have to get a new (and probably heavier) FW if I can avoid it. Kind Regards, Marcus
Electrically the FW8S-STXL it is compatible, but mechanically it is not compatible. If you did some custom tinkering you might be able to attach it, but it would require modifying the wheel somehow. (FYI the FW7-STX is fully compatible.) The guider in the FW8G wheel is not compatible. There is no CCD readout circuitry in the Aluma AC series, since it is a CMOS platform. The AO-X is fully compatible. You would need a StarChaser to run it.
That's too bad. The extra expense AND the additional weight (despite the lighter Aluma camera head) rules me out. Thanks for the reply though Doug.
