Staff Assigned: Adam Robichaud Aluma8300+sc2 and connection to php and sgp

    So prior to purchasing the Aluma 8300 and the sc2 I was assured by SBig that the combinations will work. I have tried for the last 2 weeks and I can not get the guider (sc2) to connect to phd while the main camera is connected to sgp. I am using the ascom drivers. Any support or advise would be helpful, at my wits end....

    Do you have the guider set up using ASCOM and DL Imaging Camera 2 which you've assigned to the SC-2?

    Yes. When I choose it there and I go to sgp it won’t connect and when I click setup the ascom window appears but nothing can be selected. If I start with SGP all is ok and it connects. Then when I go back to phd it is blank and will not connect. It’s like it’s trying to share the driver. Did I install something wrong or not install something?

    if I go into the sky I can connect both the guider and camera no issues.

    In SGP you are connecting to DL Imaging Camera 1, and you have selected he AL8300 in the Camera window?

    Ok here are the screen shots. starting at the top (2) is where I open PHD and I select the SC2. with nothing else opened you can see I can see the driver and I can select it with images 3,4 and 5. When I am connected and I go to SGP (Image 6) I try to select the driver but nothing can be selected. I then go back to PHD and disconnect and close the application and then go back to SGP and close and reopen and then I can see the driver and am able to select the camera (image 7) and am able to connect (image 8 and 9).

    The opposite is also the case if I want PHD to work I would have to disconnect SGP and close the application and then go into PHD and initiate the connection. Bottom line I can only have one app connected at a time.

    Am I doing something wrong?

    Ok, 2,3,4,5 look correct to me, as I expect.
    I see what you're saying in 6.
    7 looks ok. What's going on in 9?
    What happens if you DON'T have a filter wheel in SGP?

    does not matter if the filter wheel is connected or not ...

    I think we have a copy of SGP around here, and so @Adam Robichaud and I will have a look at this.

    By the way this is true of the Sky as well .. as long as you are using the same program for the camera and the SC2 no worries ... like the Sky, as soon as. you try to use different applications you can only have one. I would like to use SGP as I can set up automated runs and not have to stay up till 4 AM. and I would like to use my SC2, so I don't care necessarily if I use PHD or the SKY to do the auto guiding, but I would like one of the two to handle that while I use SGP for my main session.

    Thanks, I am using version 4 of SGP and the latest of PHD. I had the same issue on version 3 and I upgraded to 4 thinking that was the issue. I am on Windows 10 Pro. Please let me know If you need any version information.

    We think we know what is going on, and @Adam Robichaud has a couple of ideas on fastest way of fixing this.
    There's a component in the drivers that he thinks is being shared across two different windows processes, and this is likely giving the issue. It's why it doesnt show up with some other programs like TSX when both are being used by the same program.

    Update from Adam:
    He is validating a fix that has been completed.
    If it passes the tests, then he can make a Beta test version for you to try.
    He's thinking that could be as early as the 15th.
    Would you be willing to give it a shot once he has it ready?
