Is there an ASCOM driver for the SBIG 8300M Camera? I am trying to run a windows INDI server on a local pc at the telescope and I don't seem to be able to connect to this camera.

    thanks,

    Ron

At the moment we don't have ASCOM support; however, that should change later this year.

I’ve just tried it and sadly it doesn’t seem to work - it doesn’t allow the connection with the filter wheel.
Really all I wanted was to have some gain control

SBIG CCDs are Factory Calibrated and optimized for maximum dynamic range, unlike cheap CMOS APS cameras based on security camera sensors.
There is no need for Gain control - and none is available.
Gain on an SBIG CCD like your 8300 will only change when Binning is changed from 1x1, so that the binned full well capacity will fit the 16-bit ADC.

What application software are you using?

    Then you don't need ASCOM.
MaxIm has supported SBIG cameras since the beginning.
You need the SBIG Driver Checker, and in MaxIm, Camera Control Windows, Setup, Camera 1, [Setup Camera], select the SBIG Universal.

    Thank you Colin
I’ve had the camera connected that way since I’ve had it - so thanks for explaining there is no gain setting. I can just use image scaling and binning if I have to
