Need some advice on what my problem is (hardware please, not personnel :))

I've attached a file showing what I'm getting back from my internal guide chip image on my SBIG ST8-XME. This problem first appeared while I was having some icing on the main chip a couple of weeks ago. I dismantled the camera, lightly regreased the gaskets with sealant, and recharged the dessicant plug.

After I reassembled the camera, the main image chip ice was gone and appears to be giving me good images. However, the internal guide chip still returns this strange result.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

That's not good. You may have zapped the CCD sensor (electrostatic discharge).

Judging by the image dimensions, that looks like a TC-237 sensor running binned 2x2. Those sensors haven't been manufactured for many years, and we definitely do not have a replacement for it.

It's possible that the sensor is okay but something else is wrong... you should contact Bill Lynch at repairs - (805) 308-6979.
