Finally trying Narrow band imaging. Thought I'd use one my STL6303 cameras, that I havent used in 6 or so years. Opened up camera, removed R & G filter (5 filter carousel) and replaced G with SII, and B with OIII. Camera operated with Maxim dl 5. (Just now in the slow process of upgrading to windows 10/11 set up with Pro package).
On DL picked "B" filter(actually OIII) , set for 5 hrs imaging. Images looked great last nite. This a.m. got a little nervous wondering if it was the right filter. Opened camera and was actually the L filter. DOH!

Is there a special way the filter wheel is replaced in the camera so camera/software knows which filter is what?
Nothing that I could find about it in my STL6303 Manual. If there are instructions, a manual, or resourse on this somewhere I'd appreciate the referral.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Joe

You need to set what filters are in which slots.
Camera Control Window - Setup Tab - Camera 1 column - [Setup Filter].

    Thanks for getting back.
    Yes. I had gone to -- camera control window---Setup---Setup Filter- 1-R 1-SII 3-OIII-4-L-5-Ha
then to-- EXPOSE--Autosave--filters--same labeling as above, with ONLY 3-OIII activated.

I again removed camera- moved filter 3-OIII facing through scope. ( in case filter wheel not moving).
Tonight will see if filiter wheel moves and can pick the correct filter.

BTW- I looked at a couple of spare 5 place filter wheels and noticed each had the same configuration
of square white 3x4mm paint markings- 4 single and 1 double on out side of wheel. are these how the
camera knows which filter is where?

Those are marks for the user; the wheel doesn't use them.

Please be aware that STL products were discontinued well over a decade ago. Technical support is no longer available. We might be able to answer a question or two, but that's about it.

I will move this thread to the legacy forum.
