Hi, Last year I had you convert my ST-8300 to a STF-8300 and it seems it keeps blooming. I was of the impression that the KAF has a ABG. Can this be adjusted hardware-wise or is there software to do this? BR. Peter/Denmark
Hi Doug, Will do - you don’t think this is blooming? I will check the shutter and give it a try again as soon as the sky clears. Thanks! BR. Peter/Denmark
No, it does not look like blooming. A typical bloom looks like this: In fact you can see the atmospheric seeing in the trail going downwards from the star. That suggests the shutter was open as the chip was being read out, resulting in a smear. Pretty sure your shutter is stuck.
Hi Doug, I checked the shutter last evening and it does close as intended. I also checked how tight the shutter closes and it seems to be closing quite well. Since it "slides" og turns into place it cannot be close completely tight, but I guess that's the way it was constructed. As I see it, the problem must be something else. Do you have a clue? Is there a way to adjust anti-blooming (sorry for suggesting that again)? BR. Peter
There are no adjustments in this camera. Make sure the firmware and drivers are fully up-to-date (using SBIG Driver Checker). Failing that it may need to go in for service. Contact bill at sbig dot com.
