Having read the STC-7 manual (appendix B-2) for the procedure on recharging the Desiccant; one question. There's some grease on the threads/tip/0'ring of the 'container'. Assuming this is to lubricate the threads and form a better seal with the O-ring, correct?

Yes. You shouldn't need to re-grease the ring as it only needs a very tiny amount. Just pop the O-ring off and put it somewhere safe during the baking.

Can anyone kindly provide the dimensions of the STC-7 descant plug?
    Is it O-ring a #6 -OR- 8mm x 12mm x 2mm ?
Measured with a caliper but that seems a bit shaky.

When ordering a new desiccant plug that is quickly stocked from DL and then rapidly delivered by the vendor, does one need to bake the new plug desiccant prior to first use? Just thinking about saving some significant energy for the sake of the planet.

They are baked and sealed at the factory.
