I am having dewing problems with this camera and my attempts at baking the dessicant have not fully solved the problem. Would it be possible to place the dessicant in a vacuum chamber to remove moisture rather than bake in an oven? Cheers, Phil Sheehan.

    Hi Phil,

Before going to a vacuum chamber have you inspected the o-ring on the plug?
If you are baking for 4 hours in an oven it has to be backed out.

Thanks for your speedy reply Tim!
Yes, the o-ring was removed prior to baking. I do image in a very humid climate and my efforts so far have not completely stopped the dewing of the chamber.
I use a heater strap on the outside of the fitting to the focuser. I read that our rep here in Australia uses a vacuum chamber type of thing to do the desiccant and I wondered if this was ok for me to try.

No problem using vacuum, but it should not be necessary. Is the CCD fogging or the window?

Thanks Doug...it is the CCD fogging...had some bad images at our annual Astrofest outing. I use a heater strap around the extension tube

from camera to focuser. The camera is performing brilliantly and I am sure the dewing problem is related to my technical incompetence. I am going to try a vacuum chamber for the desiccant and also an Argon gas refill in the CCD chamber. Cheers!
