What are Camera Errors #17 and #27? I separately got these with my SBIG STL11000 on two occassions.

After one session I noticed that when I removed my STL from the scope the shutter wasn't closed.

Better check with Bill about the shutter error. Your shutter might require service.

    Okay, thanks!
What can cause a shutter error?

Ever since I got the camera (new) there have been times in CCDSoft, CCDOps, and now Maxim when that error creeps up, but infrequently.

It might be a mechanical problem with the shutter. Most of the applications out there will automatically retry several times if they see an Error 17. There was some issue with older versions of the original ST-7 series cameras, which caused the shutters to occasionally glitch. Since it was so common, and it usually worked if you tried it again, all the software vendors added the retry feature. IIRC there was a mechanical fix for that issue. I don't know if any of this applies to the STL cameras, but the retry feature explains why you would rarely see the problem. Bill would know more.

If it's a known or common problem I hope there is no cost for "repair"?
