    Camera SBIG 8300M
    CW5 Filter wheel
    Sti Camera
    Windows 7
    SGP
    PHD 2
When I use the Frame and Focus Module in SGP (exposure 3-5 sec.) the first frame will download, then I get 1/2 Error Messages. The first simply says SBIG ERROR- O/S or I get SBIG error while ending exposure: Driver not open . The first image freezes I am unable to focus or see anything. The status bar keeps telling methere are exposures being taken, but nothing changes on the focus screen. I can focus the Sti in PHD2 , but not the 8300M . I closed SGP and tried using CCD Ops. Using focus that module...same results. I do not leave the camera out in the observatory. It comes in at night. I have only owned this camera for 5 months. Have not been able to use it until now as the weather has not been cooperative in the N/E. I am stuck.
    Thanks,
    Bill

I'm just another customer, maybe I can help a bit. Did you download the latest version of the SBIG driver checker?
    From either here:
    ftp://ftp.sbig.com/pub/SetupDriverChecker64.exe
or from the download tab for your camera:
    http://diffractionlimited.com/product/st-i/

After you install this latest, and update the drivers with it, you also might want to see if you have the latest firmware in the cameras, using the firmware tab in the driver checker.
You might try doing all this and testing "on the workbench" to make sure it is functioning during a cloudy night.
    Good luck.

    In addition to Colin's suggestion:

Are you using the power brick that came with the camera?
Check that the power connector is making good contact. If the center posts are squished together they will not make good contact. This can happen if the cable is tugged while plugged in. Use a small tool to gently pry them apart.
Check the USB cable and make sure it's not damaged. If you are using a USB hub, try plugging it directly into the PC.
