Filter wheel random movement

    Hi,
    In my SBIG STL 4020, the 5-filter wheel turns randomly: the wrong filter comes in, and it is not centered.
    The settings in MaximDL are correct, so how can I fix this issue ?

    First thing is to check that the cable is plugged in correctly and isn't loose.

    Failing that, I recommend contacting @Bill at SBIG Service & Repair.

    Phillipe, there is a small chance you are experiencing a software issue.
    Make sure you have SBIG Driver Checker 4.05, and sbigudrv.dll is version 5.1.1.0, and MaxIm DL is reasonable current. There is a bug in old MaxIm 6.16 - 6.18 or so that can affect shutter operation. Help... Check for Updates. Version 6.30 is current.

    I don't understand - where are you logging into?

    In MaxIm, Help... Check for Updates.

    For the SBIG Driver Checker, click the [About] button. It should say 4.05. If it is older, get the correct version here:
    https://cdn.diffractionlimited.com/downloads/SetupDriverChecker64.exe
    Then install it.
    Run the Update.
    It should show the screen like this:

    Try that and let us know if everything is fixed.

    When I want to check for updates, it says that I must renew my software support subscription. So I must enter my email address and my serial number - and then it says "Forbidden, Sender blacklisted".
    So, no update available so far for MaximDL.
    No problems with SBIG Driver Checked, everything is updated.

    Could you try again? We checked things on our end, and did not see a problem. If it does it again, please take a screen shot and post it here.
    Are you using a proxy? Which web browser?

    Hi Colin,

    I was able to have my filter wheel working again using MaximDL 5 on an old computer !
    My question is: can I download MaximDL 5 for an other computer, for free preferably ?

    Version 6.16 has the bug. I recommend you upgrade. 5.x has been out of support for many years.
