I have Maxim DL V 6.24 and the STX 16803. I have plugged the camera in via USB and am trying to set it up but I'm not seeing any Sbig USB camera listed in the selections.. I've installed the driver checker and updated the drivers (it says). Reading through the instructions it mentions CCDOPS. Is that still used? I am also trying to get it to work with SkyX so I can do T-point. What selection should I be making when I set up Maxim and SkyX? Probably should say I'm using Win10
Doing an internet search on my situation I feel better because this seems to be a common problem and you guys have several threads to refer to. I guess I'll go through all the questions already asked before I bug you guys any more.
Download and install the SBIG Driver Checker 4.05, and then update the device drivers. You can find all the documentation and software for this camera in the DOWNLOADS section of this webpage: https://diffractionlimited.com/product/stx-16803/ As for The Sky, this may help: https://forum.diffractionlimited.co...yx-and-sbig-stx-cameras-with-stx-guider.7173/
You can download it from our Legacy Product Support page: https://diffractionlimited.com/legacy-product-support/ Please note that this software is no longer supported. It will probably work but we distribute it "as-is".
I think I have it figured. The STX-16803 will work if I bring it to the warm room and plug directly in to the USB 3 plug on the computer, but If I try to make it work via my Icron 2304 USB extenders (via LAN cable) it will not work. Is it because the Icron units are only USB 2 ? Can the STX-16803 be made to work on USB 2?
The STX-16803 is USB 2.0. Apparently your Icron isn't working for some reason. You might want to contact their technical support.
Amazing self-healing hardware! The only thing I did was change the USB cable that went from the computer to the Icron box in the warm room. It works perfectly fine now. Huzzah!
Sometimes the USB cables get a little bit of oxidation or corrosion on the contacts. Toss the old cable in the electronics waste / recycling.
