I reinstalled a computer with a fresh windows 10 installation.

in order to get my good old ST10 working I used driverchecker64 to install the drivers.
After what I plug the ST10 in. I could start Maxim DL and select unversal SBIG. But it does not offer USB connection for my camera... The funny thing is: i did setup a computer 18 months ago and it work.

so I try to copy all files required a hoped to get it work again. it failed.

On the 18month old computer setup I've the following files in shown up in DriverChecker64 as seen in snapshot. setup on 18month old computer.png

The setup on the fresh installed computer is:

    setup on dresh installed .png

on the 18 month old computer I in the menu "Setup camera" the connected to option: "ST-10" .. so somehow the camera is recognized...

on the fresh installed computer I even not get "usb" as "connected to" option..

getting meanwhile cracy about this... any help ? ... any procedure from "ground" to get to an solution?

That isn't correct. The correct versions will be as follows:
    sbig_driver_5110_drivers.png

    To fix this:
    1. Disconnect the camera and power it off.
    2. Launch SBIG Driver Checker.
    3. Click [Remove] to remove all the drivers.
    When it completes, click [Done].

    4. Start... Settings... Apps. Find the SBIG Driver Checker, and remove the program.

    5. Using windows file explorer, delete this folder:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\SBIG\Driver Checker 64

    6. Reboot the PC.

    7. Download the latest version of SBIG Driver Checker from here:
    https://diffractionlimited.com/downloads/SetupDriverChecker64.exe

    8. Install it, run it, and [Update] the drivers.
It will install the current and correct version.
It should now look like the screen shot above.
    Click [Done]

    9. Connect the camera and power it up.

    10. Launch MaxIm, and you should see the camera name listed (ST-10, not USB).

    That should fix it.
    Clear skies!

I did the procedure 2 times....
    Something still wrong ... I
may have to add, it's a 64-bit system... does require a special treatment?

What version of MaxIm are you running? 6.29 is the current supported version.

The error message "could not open sbigudrv.dll" is unusual, especially if you followed my instructions.
That file is essential to connect to the camera.

This runs fine on Windows 10 64-bit; I use it with an ST-10XME often.

Check if C:\windows\system has sbigudrv.dll in it, and check that the version is 5.1.1.0 by clicking on it's properties.

Is your observatory computer accessible from the internet? I could use a remote quick support tool to sign on and have a look.

I can put it back into the observatory ... having also the ST-10 available there...

Do I need to install Teamviewer or something else?

We need acccess to the camera and the computer.
    Time zone here is UTC-4.

You could download and run the TeamViewer Quick Support - no need to install anything.

At the time we are planning to work together, you would download and run this:
    https://download.teamviewer.com/download/TeamViewerQS.exe

Let me know when you could be available. We can do this today or next week.

Ok - next steps is Georg will upgrade to Windows 10 from 8.1 and fix the computer issues. We know the camera will talk to the computer now.
    I'll help again as needed.

    Hi Collin,

My 8.1 installation looked like somehow to be damaged. After putting more update onto the system, finaly nothing was working well. So I decided to upgrading to a fresh windows 10 installation. Now, the good old ST10 is working as expected and ready for taking more spectra of Be-Stars.
Thank you for your kind support yesterday.
We can consider this issue as resolved.
