Maxim LT camera setup does not recognize the camera. Device manager says driver unavailable. Ran SBIG Driver updater. SetupDLAPI and DLimagingASCOMdriverinstaller. Have live internet connection. Tried a bunch of order combinations of starting program, powering up camera, connecting USB. What next?
The SBIG Driver Checker is not for the modern CMOS cameras. Windows Device Manager should show a camera or FTDI Chip device. Update the device driver. Run Windows update - it should find it.
device managers shows "SBIG USB 3.0 Camera" with comment "driver is unavailable" Ran normal windows update earlier but just checked again and it claims to be up to date. Ran a features update. Still same message.
When this is working, the STC-428-P should show up as an SBIG camera with the FTDIchip 1.3.0.4 driver, like this: Windows is supposed to automatically install the driver. Since it apparently failed to do that, here are two ways to get it to work: A. Windows Update This should work automatically, and is a WHQL driver, so I don't know what went wrong. Run Windows Update. It will have View optional updates - click that. This will take you to the Optional Updates screen like this: Click Driver Updates It will show you something like this: Expand the section by clicking on > Driver Updates It will show you a list. Check the [x] FTDI - USB - 1.3.0.4 Click [Download and install] B. Memory Stick Insert the USB memory stick we provided. Tell windows to look in the folder for the camera driver. Like this: Launch Device Manager. Right Click on the SBIG Camera and select Update Driver. Click on Browse my computer for drivers. You can browse for the drivers on the memory stick. It should have a path similar to what is shown above. Make sure to check [x] Include subfolders. It should then proceed to install the driver. Let us know if you still can't get this to work.
I knew I would learn some things using this camera. Optional updates seems to have gotten it. Looks right on device manager. Devices on the settings panel shows connected to USB 3.0 for SBIG USB 3.0 USB camera. I can connect and take an exposure and control the cooler so making some progress. Another question cropped up related to setting up the filter wheel. Seems like it is under control since it moved when I took an exposure. I think I have it selected correctly. From the camera control screen hitting the setup filter button brings up a setup DL imaging + FW screen. Filter model set as DL imaging + FW. Hitting the advanced tab goes to FW Config screen. I can rename the slots by highlighting the names and typing. I have red, green, blue, clear, luminance, empty, empty, shutter written in. But when I click the OK button it takes me back to the setup DL imaging + FW screen but the slots assignments are the defaults. Go back into advanced and my assignments are still there but they never seem to get loaded over the defaults.
The advanced filter wheel page's slot names are only used in conjunction with dual-wheel setups—sorry if that was unclear. The correct place to name filter slots in single-wheel operation is in the standard Filter Setup dialog.
