    Dear everyone,

There is a need at the Wise Observatory to add filter positions to the
built-in filter wheel of the STL-6303E camera. Adding an external
filter wheel is not an option due to telescope design and scientific
    requirements.

    1) Can the step motor on the camera be reconfigured to position the
built-in filter wheel at many (~20) additional locations?
    2) Should the camera drivers be somehow tweaked to add effective
filter positions, which could then be selected via standard software
(e.g., MaxIm DL / ACP)? If so, can DL assist us in making the
required driver modifications or suggest someone who can?
    3) Is SBIG/DL aware of any previous attempts of such modifications?

Thank you very much for your assistance,

    Doron

Sorry, but this is not possible without modification to the camera firmware. The STL camera is no longer in production, so its firmware is not being actively maintained.

The only way this could possibly be accomplished would be to control the filter wheel through some external electronics.

MaxIm DL can handle 20 filter slots, so that is not an issue.
