When MDL is opened and my mount connects, Maxpoint opens. At that point, clicking the Data tab opens an empty window. Is the data set from the previous session already loaded? Once I open a data set for a model of the sky, do I have to leave the data window open? The minimize option is grayed out, so can I close it and still have the data set loaded? This has puzzled me ever since I first bought Maxpoint, and I would like to know for certain what to do.

MaxPoint remembers the model (mount parameters) automatically. The data points themselves aren't saved, although we do recommend that you save them yourself after a successful mapping run.

If you later reload the data points, MaxPoint recalculates the model. This allows you to switch back and forth between models, which is sometimes handy.

Thanks, Doug, good to know. When I posted my question, my old brain forgot for a moment where I live and caused me to write "advise" instead of "advice".
