I'm looking to make the cables to power these cameras directly from the Pegasus Powerbox Advanced (STL) and a Ultimate Powerbox (STX/FW5-STX). Curious to see if anyone has had any issues doing this. Both systems have a Powerwerx 30 amp PS. The STL has a 8 position filter wheel, 3" Pyxis Rotator, dew heaters, and RoboFocus to power. The STX w/FW5, dew heaters, and the RoboFocus. Anything to be leery of before hand?
Just make sure you don't connect the 12V power backwards. If you do, it'll put 12V on the USB ground and everything will fry. That includes the USB port on the camera and the computer. The camera's internal power supply is protected against that, we just can't protect against external short circuits. The first time you hook up power to the camera, make sure there are no other cables attached and it's not touching anything metal, either. If it doesn't power up when you apply power, STOP and fix the problem. If it does power up, you're safe!
