So I am using the AC4040 front illuminated version and got very bad case of horizontal banding (and quadrant FPN). I tried every suggestion that I can find: Matching ligh frame background ADU with Flat frame, using flat dark instead of bias and none seems to help. The Hi gain mode does not exhibit the same horizontal banding as the HSP and the calibrated light seems much more uniform. Am I doing something wrong? The Hi gain mode, while calibrates okay, is only 12bit ADC and has super shallow well depth, stars are easily saturated with even very short exposure (100 secs or so). The HSP mode, while providing better dynamic range, is plagued with stubborn FPN that refuses to calibrate. This is driving me nuts. Any suggestion is appreciated
The Quadrant pattern is caused by the semiconductor stitching process due to the step size in the chip fabrication process. Can you provide the following: a) Model and Serial number of the camera, where purchased. A photo of the label will do. b) Version of the firmware in the camera. DL Config Utility will show this. c) What make/specification of filters you are using d) Sample FITS images (binned 1x1, unprocessed) showing the issues. Due to the large size, you may need to use DropBox/WeTransfer or some other service. e) Version of software you are using: - DL API drivers - DL Config Utility will show you - 2.7.1.0 is current. - MaxIm DL Pro version - 6.30 is current. - OS and any other software you are using.
